DATA SANITIZATION — SERVICE IN INDONESIA

Certified data destruction service in Indonesia

For multinational and regulated companies operating in Indonesia, DTI destroys data on hard drives, SSDs, and tapes at your site, witnessed by your team, with a destruction certificate per serial number. Methods follow NIST SP 800-88, so the evidence lines up with the group policy your headquarters already uses, while meeting Indonesian requirements under UU PDP.

Global companies usually arrive in Indonesia with a group IT asset policy that names NIST SP 800-88 or a similar standard. Locally, the same retired drives also fall under Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP, Law 27/2022), which requires personal data to be erased and destroyed once it is no longer needed, and under sector rules from OJK or the Ministry of Health where they apply.

The practical challenge is finding a local partner that applies the right method per media, works on site so drives never leave the building, and produces evidence that both a regional auditor and an Indonesian regulator can read.

DTI provides that service across Indonesia, from Jakarta offices and data centers to branch locations and plants outside Java.

What multinational teams run into locally

Group policy, local execution gap

Headquarters specifies Purge or Destroy under NIST SP 800-88, but local vendors offer only a generic 'data wipe' with no method stated and no evidence per drive.

Drives leaving the site

Collecting drives to an off-site facility adds a transport risk. A single lost drive can become a personal-data incident under UU PDP and a reportable event under group policy.

SSDs handled like hard drives

Degaussing does not erase SSDs. Vendors that rely on a degausser alone leave data on the laptops and servers most likely to be resold.

Evidence auditors cannot use

A single summary letter does not satisfy an ISO/IEC 27001 auditor or a group internal audit. They expect a record per serial number with method, date, location, and witnesses.

What the DTI service covers

Method per media, per NIST SP 800-88

Degaussing and physical destruction for HDDs and tapes; verified crypto-erase or SSD-rated shredding for SSDs and flash. Each method maps to Clear, Purge, or Destroy as your policy defines them.

On site, witnessed by your team

Destruction happens at your premises with your representatives present, so media never leaves the building before the data is gone.

Destruction certificate per serial number

Every drive is recorded by serial number with method, date, location, witnesses, and signatures, ready for ISO/IEC 27001, internal audit, and regulatory review in Indonesia.

Coverage across Indonesia

Jakarta, other major cities, and sites outside Java. One partner for all locations keeps the method and evidence consistent across your Indonesian footprint.

Machines if you prefer to own the process

For high-volume sites, DTI also supplies degaussers and HDD/SSD shredders, so you can run destruction in house with the same evidence format.

DTI's data destruction clients include banks, energy, and testing and certification companies operating in Indonesia, with service across the country.

How a destruction engagement runs

1

Scope

We review your media list, locations, and the method your group policy requires, and agree on the evidence format.

2

Inventory

Each drive and tape is recorded by serial number before destruction, so the count in matches the count destroyed.

3

Witnessed destruction

DTI performs degaussing, crypto-erase, or physical destruction on site, witnessed by your team.

4

Certificate and close-out

You receive a destruction certificate per serial number for your audit file and group reporting.

Questions about data destruction in Indonesia

Does Indonesian law require data destruction?

Yes, for personal data. UU PDP (Law 27/2022) Articles 43 and 44 require data controllers to erase and destroy personal data when it is no longer needed, the retention period ends, or the data subject requests it. The law sets the outcome, data that cannot be recovered, rather than a specific technical method.

Can the service follow our global NIST SP 800-88 policy?

Yes. DTI applies methods per media that map to the Clear, Purge, and Destroy categories of NIST SP 800-88, so the evidence aligns with group policies built on that standard.

Do drives leave our premises?

Not unless you choose to. The default for sensitive media is on-site destruction witnessed by your team.

How are SSDs handled?

SSDs cannot be degaussed. They are destroyed with a verified cryptographic erase or an SSD-rated shredder, depending on whether the device will be reused and how sensitive the data is.

Which locations do you cover?

DTI provides data destruction services across Indonesia, including sites outside Jakarta and outside Java. Share your locations and volumes and we will plan the schedule.
